Robert J. Steffen was appointed to the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board in November of 2015. Mr. Steffen is a licensed attorney at law in the State of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois with over 15 years of extensive experience with Residential and Commercial Real Estate transactions. He is also currently a Title Agent for Attorneys' Title Guarantee Fund, Chicago Title, and Fidelity National Title. Mr. Steffen is owner and sole practitioner at the Law Firm of Steffen Law, P.C. and also served as a Judge on the Illinois Court of Claims for over 11 years from April, 2004 until November, 2015. After graduation from law school and prior to entering private practice in April of 2000, Mr. Steffen worked as an Assistant State's Attorney at the Kane County State's Attorney's Office where he prosecuted crimes from Mob Action to Murder and left as a Felony First Chair Assistant. Mr. Steffen is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (1989) and The John Marshall Law School (1992) where he earned his Juris Doctor and is an active member with the Illinois State Bar Association and the Kane County Bar Association. He also studied German Language at the Geothe Institute in (West) Berlin, Gemany, where he received a diploma in Basic German Language.

 Mr. Steffen's numerous activities in the community include:

Mr. Steffen lives in South Barrington with his wife, two daughters Nika and Alyssa, and son Tristan.
